The second of two sons Mattie Smith named Vane. This son was also born and died in the month of Feb. He was a veteran of WW ___. He was gassed in the war and when he returned home was mentally ill. He carried a pistol at all times and pulled it on a dentist forcing him to lance an infected tooth. Vane was dead of blood poisoning within the week.
