KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Evelyn Wright Scism, 82, of 102
Scism Road, Kings Mountain, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at White Oak
Manor in Kings Mountain.
Mrs. Scism was born in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late
Floyd and Nellie Roberts Wright. She was widow of J. Mearl Scism. She
retired from Kings Mountain District School Food Service after more than
20 years of service. She was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church
and the Ellen Hord Bible Class.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by
a son, H. Haskel Scism; a brother, Hubert Wright and his wife, Mildred
Thornburg Wright; and a brother-in-law, Gay Putnam.
Mrs. Scism is survived by son, Robert Scism and wife, Becky, of Kings
Mountain and Don Scism and wife, Susan Bowen Scism, of Bessemer City; a
daughter-in-law, Ann Bridges Scism of Kings Mountain; brothers, Thomas
Wright and wife, Mae, of Kings Mountain and Ralph Wright and wife,
Martha Ann, of Conover; a sister, Magdalene Wright Putnam, of
Cherryville; grandsons, Lynn Scism and wife, Cam, of Kings Mountain,
Marcus Scism of Taylorsville, Gary Scism and wife, Brandie and Brent
Scism and wife, Andrea, all of Bessemer City; granddaughters, Roxanne
Scism Bridges and husband, the Rev. John Bridges, of Kings Mountain,
Carla Scism Parham of Hickory and Monica Scism of Durham; and
great-grandchildren, Thomas, Elizabeth and Rebekah Bridges, Sarah and
Joshua Scism, all of Kings Mountain, Taylor, Victoria and Julia Parham,
all of Hickory and Jacob and Jackson Scism and Dalton Scism, all of
Bessemer City.
Visitation: The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at
Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home of a son, Robert Scism,
108 Country Club Road, Kings Mountain
Funeral: Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church
Burial: Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
