Horace Eugene McKee
Sept. 3, 1927 – Feb. 14, 2007
ELLENBORO — Mr. Horace Eugene McKee, 79, of 1177 Mount Olivet Church
Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Cleveland Regional Medical
Center.
He was born in Cleveland County, the son of the late Horace Shafter
McKee and Ruth Grigg McKee. He served in the Navy in World War II and
retired after 21 years as a chief cook aboard several naval vessels. He
also retired from Mack’s Livermush.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steve
Allan McKee, and two brothers, Glenn McKee and Hillard McKee.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen McKinley McKee; a son, Tom
McKee and wife, Gwan, of Caroleen; daughters, Ann McCraw and husband,
Jimmy, of Shelby, Carol McNeilly and husband, Danny, of Hollis and Lynn
Bruce of Granite Falls; a brother, Roger McKee of Boonville; a sister,
Mary Ellen Wellmon of Shelby; nine grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at
Piney Mountain Baptist Church.
Memorial Service: Saturday at 2 at Piney Mountain Baptist Church
