Bessie Elmore Jones
(August 25, 1915 - July 22, 2007)
Mrs. Bessie Elmore Jones, 91 of Lawndale passed away July 22, 2007 at
Hospice at Wendover.
Born August 25, 1915 in Cleveland County; she was a daughter to the late
Austin Free Elmore and Pearl Waters Elmore. She was retired from
Cleveland Mills as a winder and was a member of Word of Life Baptist
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Dock David Jones; three grandchildren; a stepson, Harris Jones; a
stepdaughter; Naomi Lee; three brothers, A.F., Broadus and Arthey
Elmore; and two sisters, Ellen Canipe and Grady Proctor.
Mrs. Jones is survived by four sons, Howard Jones and wife, Janice of
Cary; Buck Jones of Casar; Harold Jones and wife Patricia of Stanley;
and Tommy Jones of Polkville; two daughters, Linda Cook and husband Alan
of Ellenboro and Cathy Arrowood and husband, Horace Lee of Casar; a step
daughter, Dorothy Pearson of Lincolnton; a brother, Austin Elmore of
Greensboro; two sisters, Elsie Elmore of Newton and Lourene Proctor of
Kings Mountain; thirty-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Lawndale
Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Morrison and Rev. Dennis Wells
officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before
the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, Tuesday, July 24,
2007 at Stamey Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the
home of a daughter, Linda Cook, 1138 Walls Church Road, Ellenboro, NC.
