Wortman-Mabry, Vangie
BOONE - Mrs. Vangie Wortman Mabry, 94, of 2152 George Hayes
Road, formerly of Shelby, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Glen Stone Health Care
in Boone.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Lon and Jennie
Pritchard Wortman. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Eastside Baptist
Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee
Mabry; a brother, Loy Wortman; and a sister, Ferrell McGinnis
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lon and Mary Mabry of Boone; two
daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Sorgee of Rock Hill, S.C., and Carol and Tom
Shook of Boone; five grandchildren, J. Steve Sorgee, Evangeline DesMarais,
Cheryl Kozkowski, Joan Ward and Lee Mabry; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel,
with Dr. Harold Fite officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Clay-Barnette Funeral
Home.
