John Miller Sparks Jr
LAWNDALE — Mr. John Miller Sparks Jr., 80, of 3323 Shelby Road,
died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late John Miller
Sparks Sr. and Vangie Wellmon Sparks. He was a farmer, retired from Continental
Trailways as a ticket agent and was currently involved in Real Estate. He was a
member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Josh and Wade
Sparks; and a granddaughter, Sara Katherine Sparks.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Myrtle Grigg Sparks of the home; a son
and daughter-in-law, John Alan and Kathe Sparks of Lawndale; a daughter and
son-in-law, Myra Ann and Tony Lindsay of Hickory; a sister, Mozelle McSwain of
Lawndale; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Sparks of Lawndale.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, with Dr. Randy
Bridges and the Rev. Russell Fitts officiating. The body will be placed in the
church 30 minutes before the service.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6 to
8 and at other times at the home of John and Kathe Sparks, 818 Arbor Drive,
Lawndale.
