Pauline Poole Ledford

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Pauline Poole Ledford, 84, of 246 Sandpit Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 23, 1919, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny David Poole and Minnie Earls Poole. She was a homemaker and retired from Carolina Shoe Company in Morganton. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Ledford; a son, Harold E. Ledford; a brother, Howard Poole; sisters, Vangie Hoyle and Inez Brackett; and a grandson, Robert Blanton.

She is survived by a son, Carroll E. Ledford of Lawndale; five daughters, Jeraldine “Deanie” Mull of Cherryville, Jo Ann Sharp of Hampton, Va., Patsy Denton of Morganton, Janet Cooke of Vale and Jackie Towery of Lawndale; three brothers, Jack Poole of Drexel, Johnny Lee Poole of Charlotte and Carl Poole of Casar; two sisters, Mary Lou McCombs of Lawndale and Thelma Porter of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, with Dr. Ernest Speagle and the Rev. Wade Boone officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Stamey Funeral Home and will be at the home of a daughter, Deanie Mull, 5535 Highway 182, Cherryville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Baptist Church, 337 Hull Road, Casar, NC 28020; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
