Hettie Sue Cook Watts

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Hettie Sue Cook Watts, 72, of Fallston Road, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Hospice at Wendover.

Born June 20, 1931, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Jake Everette Cook and Mary Elizabeth Lail Cook. She retired from Hickory Furniture and was employed by Shelby Winn-Dixie and Shelby Wal-Mart. She was a member of Bingham Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jude Howard Watts; a son, Jimmy Wayne Watts; and a brother, Everette Cook.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Spencer Kirkendall of Lawndale and Patsey Davis of Louisiana; two brothers, Cecil Cook of Vale and Carl Cook of Hickory; two sisters, Louise Doster of Connelly Springs and Artie Davis of Vale; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bingham Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church with the Revs. John Perdue and Jackie Price officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Brenda and Spencer Kirkendall, 219 Sandpit Road, Lawndale.
