Cornelius Henry Ruby

From the Cameron Herald, 15 Feb 1945:

C. Henry Ruby, 88 years of age, died at his home in Cameron, Friday afternoon, Feb 9th. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church. He will be buried in the Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Ruby was born Jan 13, 1856 in Owensboro, KY. He came to Texas 70 years ago (1875) and settled at Port Sullivan, on the Brazos River.
Mr. Ruby moved to Cameron from Port Sullivan Nov 5, 1884, married Miss Nora White, of the Corinth Community on Nov 5, 1884 and has made his home in Cameron every since. He engaged in business, and in late years kept a small shop on North Fannin Ave. He was the father of four children, three of whom survive.
1. Martin S. Ruby of Waco
2. Mrs. A.L. Peterson of Yoakum
3. Mrs. Alex (Bill) Bonds of Cameron
4. One child died in infancy

A niece, Mrs. Vernon Roberts, lives in Temple. She was reared in the C.H. Ruby home since infancy.
A sister of C.H., Mrs. Tom Ormand, survives and lives in Temple.
Four grandchildren survive;
1. Lt. Martin Ruby Jr., Army Air Corps, stationed at Randolph Field. Lt. Martin is a famous A&M graduate and All American football celebrity.
2. Henry Ruby Jr is with the Pacific Armed Forces.
3. Ruth and Dorothy, nieces, also live in Waco.

Mr. Henry Ruby is a life long member of the Methodist church and served on the board of stewards for many years. Interment to be in Oak Hill cemetery.
