Ruth Richards Stirling

ST. INIGOES, Md. - Mrs. Ruth Richards Stirling, 90, formerly of Fort Washington, Md., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, Md.
Born Nov. 23, 1917, in Lawndale, she was the daughter of the late William Richards and Mary Wallace Richards. Mrs. Stirling was also predeceased by her two husbands, William H. "Ned" Williams of Lawndale, in 1957 and James Stirling of Fort Washington in 1989. She held a variety of jobs over many years, including work as a manager at Meridian Hill Hotel in Washington, D.C., and as business manager for a family plumbing business in Clinton, Md., for many years.
Mrs. Stirling is survived by three sons, James Stirling and his wife, Barbara, of St. Inigoes, Allen Stirling and his wife, Linda, of Chesapeake Beach, Md., and Andrew Stirling of Mechanicsville, Md.; four grandchildren, Laura Stirling of Auburn, Ala., Lt. j.g. Mark Stirling, U.S. Navy, and Robert Stirling and James Stirling, both of Mechanicsville; and several great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by one sister, Irene Martin, and three brothers, Garland Richards, Thomas Richards and Bill Richards.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
Funeral: Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., Fallston Baptist Church
Burial: Sunset Cemetery, Shelby
