Rev. Andy Meade Jr

May 15, 1922 – July 21, 2006
SHELBY — The Rev. Andy Meade Jr., 84, of 3563 Plainfield Drive, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at home.
Mr. Meade was the pastor of Elliott Memorial Baptist Church where he served the Lord for more than 25 years. He preached for more than 57 years in Cleveland and surrounding counties. Along with the Elliott Memorial Baptist Church, he organized the Cleveland County Baptist Camp Meeting and served as its moderator for many years.
Mr. Meade was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Scism Meade; father, A.P. Meade; mother, Rose Peeler Meade; son, Buren Meade; daughter, Brenda Brown; great-grandson, Chad Meade; brothers, Glen and Plato Meade and two infant brothers; and two sisters, Ethel Cook and Bryte Blanton.
He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Meade of Shelby; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Meade Griffin of Shelby; son-in-law, Gene Brown of Shelby; sister, Mary Earl of Lawndale; seven grandchildren, Chris Meade, Tim Edwards, David Edwards, Danny Edwards, Tracy Burton, Gina Maness and Hope Edwards; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home
Funeral: Monday at 2 p.m. at Elliot Memorial Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial: Elliott Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery
