Mabel Anthony Blanton

LAWNDALE — Mrs. Mabel Anthony Blanton, 90, formerly of Lawndale, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004, after a long illness, at Haven in the Hills.

Born Oct. 24, 1913, in Cleveland County, she retired as a supervisor at Cleveland Mills and Lily Mills. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lawndale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Augusta Lee Anthony and Ada Poston Anthony; her husband, Alvin Clinton Blanton; a son, William Leroy “Roy” Blanton; a brother, Aster Anthony; and three sisters, Ruby McGinty, Mozell Farmer and Gladys Weathers.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Daunita B. Blanton of Shelby; a sister, Ada Ledford of Greensboro; a grandson, Phillip Lee “Phil” Blanton of Spartanburg, S.C.; and a great-grandson, Samuel Lee “Sam” Blanton of Shelby.

A cremation service is today at 11 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Reep officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Daunita B. Blanton, 910 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby.
