Ruby Leona Jones Martin

CASAR — Mrs. Ruby Leona Jones Martin, 75, of 5522 Casar Road, went home on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 24, 1929, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Jones and Jettie Caroline Bivens Jones. She retired from Cleveland Memorial Hospital, where she was employed in housekeeping. She was a very loving and giving person who continually put others before herself. Her presence was always felt and her love was always given at home, at work and in her community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Loyd Franklin Martin; and a brother, Ken Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Loyd Christy Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Reva Martin of Morganton; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Evans of Morganton; two brothers, Eugene Jones of Shelby and Larry Jones of Gallatin, Tenn.; four sisters, Nadine Harrison and Bertie Davis of Shelby and Lois Chapman and Mamie Lou Pruitt of Casar; five grandchildren, Gregory Gechter, Chelle-Marie Stover, Shevela Parris, Andy Gechter and Shawn Martin; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Leonard Byers officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today at the funeral home an hour before the service.
